Locations
Pannonhalma
Pannonhalma is an ancient town which is most famous for the Benedictine Archabbey (founded in 996), and is an UNESCO World Heritage site. Pannonhalma is also a wine region and famous for the lavender fields and the products created from it. But even more importantly… This is where Kata’s father is from and where her Mama still lives. Kata was also baptized here, and Kuba visited many times and luckily could still meet Kata’s grandfather.

Lavender and Herb Garden of the Archabbey
The wedding ceremony will take place in the Herb Garden of the abbey, which is surrounded by lavender fields (they won’t be blooming in September though). This garden is a little isle of peace with a fantastic café (where they also sell products of the Abbey), entrance to the Arboretum next to it, a Museum of Scents and other attractions. Feel free to arrive a bit earlier if you would like to explore.
There is toilet available and the ground is mostly paved.
St. Jacob Guest House
The St. Jacob Guest House is the official guest house of the Archabbey. It bears the name of St. Jacob, protector of pilgrims. Which makes it fitting for another certain Jacob to stay here during his wedding.
The guest house has community rooms:
- a dining room with toilets nearby
- a smaller community kitchen
- a whole industrial kitchen which we can also use
- an outdoor area with a grill, ping pong table, foosball table and kids’ toys
- a community room, which will serve as our rain venue (hopefully won’t be used!)
The guest rooms are towards the hill, in 4 houses. We will keep you posted on the room arrangements.
Parking is free, on the left side from the entrance. There are a lot of spots, if you can’t find a spot, please call us.
- Arrival: Friday from 14:00
- Leaving: Sunday 10:00

Porta Restaurant
The Porta Restaurant is in the center of Pannonhalma. It’s a new restaurant in the beautifully reconstructed building of a traditional peasant’s house. Their cuisine combines Hungarian dishes with a modern twist, with French and Asian influences.
